Red Room is a lyrical animation that visualizes spoken word through type, motion, and atmosphere. Set in a messy, immersive room, the animation captures the rhythm and tone of the song while reflecting a deeply personal moment in time. I created this piece as a reflection of my experience during the 2020 lockdown in Guatemala, where strict curfews confined me indoors for nearly three months. What began as isolation slowly turned into a numbing routine like addiction to my phone, no exercise, and a sense of comfort that felt more like resignation. This piece is a visual and emotional response to that period. It's a reminder, a self-check, and a way to confront how that experience shaped me.

The main challenge was syncing the pacing of the lyrics with the animation. It was my first time working with typography in 3D, which brought unexpected complexities compared to 2D type animation. I wanted to experiment with every aspect of the type of motion, depth, and emphasis. So that each sentence carried a distinct emotional weight. Building the room was also a learning curve. I aimed to create a space that felt lived-in, a reflection of internal chaos masked as comfort. It was one of my first experiences designing a full 3D environment, combining self-made and sourced assets to construct a setting that feels both familiar and unsettling.

Red Room became more than just a lyrical animation; it turned into a visual diary. It pushed my technical skills in 3D typography, scene building, and emotional pacing. The final piece captures the strange balance between comfort and discomfort that defined that period in my life. It serves as a self-portrait through design, combining motion, text, and environment to express something personal in a way that resonates universally. This project marked a turning point in how I approach storytelling through space, type, and rhythm.
