about.
The Lina lamp originated as a proposal my girlfriend developed for Cappellini, a brand renowned for its pioneering design innovations. I was immediately drawn to its simplicity and timeless quality, so I decided to bring the lamp to life through a motion sequence. The piece showcases how Lina functions and interacts with its environment, emphasizing its versatility: bright colors, clean geometry, and the ability to enhance any corner of a home. For the sequence, I handled the entire process from start to finish, including animation, sound design, and final execution. My goal was not only to demonstrate the functionality of Lina but also to capture the feeling of a design that can exist seamlessly in any setting, a piece that is both beautiful and enduring.
challenge.
While creating the Lina sequence, the process was straightforward in terms of modeling and animation, but my main focus was capturing the lamp’s versatility. I wanted to emphasize how it could be moved from place to place and still feel unique in every environment it entered.
Another challenge was the sound design. My instinct is to mix modern UI-style sound design with my love for house music, so I experimented with blending the two. The piece begins with calm, minimal UI tones as the lamp glides across the scene, then transitions into house music as the lamp assembles into its final form. This contrast gave the sequence a modern yet edgy vibe, reinforcing the idea of Lina as both functional and expressive.
results.
The final sequence highlights Lina as both functional and adaptable. It presents the lamp in its range of colors, demonstrates how it can seamlessly belong to any environment, and emphasizes its practical use. The result is a visually striking and dynamic piece that communicates Lina’s timeless design and versatility.
